Double-Layered Skirt Tutorial...

This skirt really is cuter in person.  My friend Kimmy had a bag full of fun fabrics and let me choose some to make a skirt with.  I love these two fabrics.  Below I cut 4 separate pieces of  fabric.  2 of the brown pattern and 2 of the pink both cut at slight angles.  I used the entire width of the fabric and cut two different lengths.

I sewed the pinks right sides together and browns right sides together and I actually surged all the edges,
but it's not necessary if you don't have a surger.

Then I put the pink ones inside the brown one with the top edges pinned together... and by adjusting the stitch length and stitch tension on my sewing machine I gathered the pink and brown pieces together.

Next, I added an elastic band to the top.
Next, I pinned the bottom edges and hemmed them.
Now it's all finished except I decided to cinch up a side on the brown.

After I cinched up the side added a FLOWER by hand stitching it to the fabric.  Click on the highlighted word flower to learn how to make it.
